We often get sent Research projects which will help inform the whole community.  The Amputee Community needs more research, the more research the better powers that be and NHS providers know exactly what amputees need. Your time and efforts spent completing these are absolutely key to ensuring new treatments/physio are implemented.

Here’s some active projects:

  1. STUFF THAT WORKS – Community Hub where individuals share symptoms and things that have worked on phantom pain and residual limb pain. It is a great collaborative space for everyone to help one another.  The more contributors the better chance to ensure more research is commissioned to make a real difference to treatment.  https://www.stuffthatworks.health/phantom-limb-syndrome
  2. We are collaborating with Essex University on Scientific Research for Limb Difference Community – click here to become a participant and receive Amazon vouchers for your input: https://sites.google.com/view/research-for-limb-difference
  3. My name is Victoria and I am a 4th year BSc (Hons) Fashion Technology student at Heriot-Watt University, School of Textiles & design.

I am currently doing my honours project for my last year fashion technology course and would love you the charity to be involved in the change of clothing in up-and-coming years. My research project is looking into the challenges faced by high street stores with regards to the provisions of accessibility and adaptable clothing for people with disabilities. The brief of the project is to research into why retail/high street brands struggle to include accessible clothing designs into their year or monthly collections. Through this research project, I aim to produce two sportswear outfits that are adaptable for those who have a disability or loss of limb. I am aiming this project at the age of a 20–40-year-old High Street market.

I would be greatly appreciated if you would pass my questionnaire out to those who relate to my project. I shall attach the link to this email and all that is required is for those who want to take part to click on the link and answer the questions. A brief description of the topic I am researching, and the legal side of things will be included in the questionnaire. It will approximately take around 5-10 minutes to complete. Here is the link:  https://www.surveylegend.com/s/3poc
