Cambridge Inclusive Fitness Club for Amputees launches with the University of Cambridge Sports Centre
Steel Bones and the University of Cambridge Sports Centre today announced the launch of the Cambridge Inclusive Fitness Club for Amputees, a free, weekly, coach led session designed to make strength, balance, and cardio training accessible and enjoyable for people with limb difference. The club launches Thursday, 16 October 2025, and will run every Thursday, 2:00–3:00pm during term time.

Club Essentials
• Launch date: Thursday, 16 October 2025
• When: Thursdays, 2:00–3:00pm (weekly)
• Where: University of Cambridge Sports Centre, Philippa Fawcett Drive, Cambridge CB3 0AS
• Cost: Free (donations welcome)
• Who it’s for: Adults with upper or lower limb difference. Family/carers/support workers welcome.
• Access: Step free access, accessible changing and toilets. Parking and public transport nearby. Please contact us with any additional access needs.
What to Expect Each Week
All sessions are led by qualified, insured coaches with safeguarding training. Risk assessments and emergency action plans are also in place.
• Vast array of cardiovascular machines including upper body only ones such as a ski erg and hand crank.
• Great selection of resistance machines for both lower and upper body.
• 5x cables machines which are highly versatile and adaptable for a range of exercises.
• Free weights (Dumbbells and Barbells) available along with weight benches.
• Exercise technique and training programme advice from coaches.

About the University of Cambridge Sports Centre
Opened in 2013, the University Sports Centre provides the local community with a Gym, Strength & Conditioning room, Sports Hall, Squash and Fives courts, Padel Courts, Studios and a Team Training Room used by international performance athletes. We offer a wide range of sports clubs and fitness classes for both members and pay as you go users.
Steel Bones is a community led charity supporting amputees and their families across the Midlands and beyond.
