The fitness programme launched in June, takes place every Wednesday from 7.30 – 8.30pm at Abbeycroft Leisure’s Brandon Leisure Centre.
Every week the club addresses healthy lifestyle essentials plus a fitness programme appropriate for each participant. Trainer Lee Hyne puts the attendees through their paces in a level appropriate to them and with a great motivating attitude focused on the individual’s goals.
STEEL BONES charity operates on a completely voluntary basis, working to connect the amputee community, create friendships and provide an extensive, proactive support network.
Emma and Leigh Joy-Staines, the Charity’s Founders are passionate about creating opportunities which enable all amputees to unite together and motivate one another to achieve their goals and live the best life. Maintaining healthy weight and fitness is absolutely essential to enabling an Amputee to live life to the full. They said the following “We are so thrilled with how the fitness club has taken off at Brandon. A fantastic centre with welcoming, friendly and professional experts who have treated our group with great care. It has been such a joy to see the amazing impact the sessions have had on the attendees not only in physical health but emotional well being too. it is extraordinary and we much look forward to seeing their journeys continue and welcoming more to enjoy the same benefits.”
Warren Smyth Abbeycroft Leisure’s Chief Executive said “We are extremely pleased to be working with such a worthwhile charity, offering opportunities for the amputee community to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.”
