Amputee charity Steel Bones is working with the Specialist Physio team at Lister Hospital to launch a new support group for amputees and their families to connect and get to know one another.

The past couple of years have been extremely tough for everyone and so Steel Bones is so thrilled to be able to support the fantastic Physio team at Lister Hospital to unite the local amputee community.

This is a group for amputees led by amputee families who really get what other amputee families are going through.

We are inviting anyone with limb difference with their family and friends to join in on the meet ups and make some new friends along the way! Please get in touch with Steel Bones or the Physio team at Lister Hospital.

This is a free to all event.  The coffee and cakes are funded by local grants Steel Bones has secured.  Thank you to the funders who make this possible and to the fantastic team organising these brilliant opportunities to bring more amputee families together.

Matt, Senior Physiotherapist at Lister Hospital said: ”Limb difference is life changing for patients and their loved ones but what lies ahead can often seem quite scary, unknown and lonely. Having a place where people can come and just be, talk and get support if they wish or just be around people who have similar experiences, I feel will be invaluable and something we really want to support.”

Emma and Leigh Joy-Staines, the Charity’s Founders are passionate about creating opportunities which enable all amputees to unite and motivate one another to achieve their goals and live the best life.  They said the following “We are so thrilled we can support local amputees in this way, it is vital we create as many opportunities to unite the community again.”
