- Who lives with you and how old are they? Tell us a little about them—their favourite colours or hobbies! My Wife’s name is Sharon, and she is my full-time career here favourite colour is Red and hobbies are bingo Gardening and spending time with the grandchildren
- When did you become an amputee? I became a amputee at one mouth old
- Do you have a nickname for your stump? Don’t have a name for my stump
- What was your biggest concern about becoming an amputee? I don’t remember as I was only a mouth old
- Are you working at the moment, or how do you like to spend your days? Don’t have a job so I spend my time volunteering for steel bones which I really do enjoy
- What’s been your biggest challenge—and how did you overcome it? I can’t think of any challenges as I lost my leg from a mouth old so growing up, I did most things I learnt ride a bike swim and lots of other things a young boy growing up
- Any funny moments since your amputation? I once hopped round my local pub twice to raise money for charity and a funny thing happened to me in sports direct I was going round the shop on my wheelchair and when I left the shop I didn’t notice I had some clothing stuck to the back and when I left I set the shop alarm off so a security guard stopped me
- When did you come across Steel Bones? How do we support your family? I found steel bones in a weird way my stepdaughters dads son played football with Emma and Leighs son and shannon dad came back and told me all about it I started of going to the gym at first then I got asked to be a trustee then went on to helping out at events . Then something really good happened I was honed to be asked to be chairman which I was very proud to say yes to as I feel I had lots to offer and help steel bones grow as a charity and I would like to thank Emma and Leigh for showing the trust and support they have given me .
- What would you most like to achieve—big or small? I joined Steel Bones in January in 2018 and have never looks back steel bones came into my life when I was really down and depressed and had mental health problems I have been a amputee since I was a mouth I am now 56 and about fifteen years ago my good knee started to be very painful so I has to start using a wheel chair so I went from doing lots to just sitting in my chair at home I was captain of my local darts team and I helped run two football teams and was on the committee of my local social club so went from doing lots to not doing anything . I can’t being to tell you all how steel bones have helped me and my family support us and I know have two grandchildren who me and my wife love spending time with a they love coming to steel bones events
- Things I would love to do I would like to loose some more weight get stronger in the gym and inter some competition in the disabled strong man . Spend as much time with the grandchildren as possible as they are growing up so fast and finally make steel bones become the best amputee charity that there is so future Amputees have the best support there is .
