Steel Bones Launches Careers Gudiance & Support Programme to Empower Amputees in the Workplace
In collaboration with Careers Navigation Specialist, Tony McBride, and Professional CV Writer Lindsay Fullarton, this first of its kind initiative aims to help amputees transition skills and find meaningful employment.
Steel Bones, a leading charity supporting amputee families across the UK, is proud to announce the launch of its groundbreaking Careers Guidance Programme, created to help amputees rebuild career confidence, transition their skills, and re-enter the workforce following limb loss.
This innovative programme has been developed in partnership with seasoned careers professionals Tony McBride and Lindsay Fullarton, who bring decades of experience in CV writing, interview prep and career coaching. The initiative is designed to offer practical and emotional support to amputees at every stage of their employment journey.
“At Steel Bones, we understand that the journey to recovery isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, social, and financial too,” said Gary, Chairman of Steel Bones. “This programme provides a holistic approach to career guidance, ensuring amputees have the tools, confidence, and community they need to thrive in the workplace.”
Key features of the programme include:
- A comprehensive Resource Library featuring accessible fact sheets, guides, and podcasts addressing everything from CV writing and interview preparation, to advice where to access information on legal rights and workplace adjustments.
- One-to-one calls with Tony or Lindsay for personalised guidance and support.
- Group coaching sessions, offering peer connection and motivation.
Tony McBride commented, “Helping amputees feel equipped and empowered to pursue fulfilling work is a mission we’re deeply passionate about. This programme is about showing what’s possible and supporting individuals to unlock their potential.”
Lindsay Fullarton added, “One’s career plays a huge role in restoring a sense of purpose and independence. We’re thrilled to be part of this initiative and look forward to helping many amputees take the next step in their career journey.”
Lord Mackinlay of Richborough said: “I have been working with the excellent team at Steel Bones for some time and am hugely impressed with their commitment to support amputee families around our country. I am delighted to support the Employment and Careers Support Programme and am on hand to assist Steel Bones with this in any way I can.”
The Careers Guidance Programme is now open to all amputees across the UK, with resources and bookings available via the Steel Bones website.
