Residents in Isleham and surrounding areas can now access free digital support, devices and internet connectivity thanks to the opening of a new Digital Hub at Steel Bones on the Isleham Business Park.
Delivered as part of the Connecting Cambridgeshire Digital Hubs programme, the Hub will provide a welcoming space where people can access free WiFi, use digital devices and receive help with everyday online tasks.
The Hub can support residents with:
- Using smartphones, tablets and laptops
- Accessing online public services
- Creating and managing email accounts
- Applying for jobs online
- Staying safe online
- Building digital skills and confidence
Digital Hubs are designed to tackle digital exclusion by providing support within trusted community settings, helping more people access the opportunities and services available online.
Emma from Steel Bones has said, “We are so proud to become part of the Digital Hubs network. We know that many people still face barriers to getting online, whether that’s access to a device, internet connectivity or simply the confidence to use technology. We hope the Hub will provide a friendly and supportive place where people can learn and build confidence at their own pace.”
Joanna Shilton, Digital Inclusion Lead for Connecting Cambridgeshire, said: “Digital Hubs play an important role in helping communities access digital opportunities locally. Through funding for connectivity and devices, we’re enabling trusted community organisations and their volunteers to provide digital support where it’s needed most.”
The Hub is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 2pm at Steel Bones, Unit 12, Isleham Business Park, CB7 5QZ.
