Working 15 hours per week (spread over 3 or 4 days) this is a hybrid role completing funding bids and applications, along with fundraising admin tasks. The role involves liaising with other team members via video and telephone calls and email. Plus travelling for team meetings and events across England and Wales.

The post holder will be required to attend face to Face events and meetings from time to time therefore, access to your own transport is essential.

Fundraising Assistant

Location: Hybrid with travel across England & Wales

Hours: 15 hours per week Reports to: CEO

Salary is £26,208 pro rata

This is an intital 6 months contract with potential for extension dependent on results and performance.

Role Purpose

The Fundraising Assistant will play a key role in supporting Steel Bones’ fundraising efforts by helping with donor relations, event coordination, and administrative tasks.  The successful candidate will be set a target and work with the team to ensure the funding target is achieved. This is a remote role with flexibility (15 hours per week) but will require set times for the training programme which will be agreed upon job offer.

Key Responsibilities

Research potential funding opportunities from grant-making bodies, trusts, and corporate sponsors.

Assist in drafting grant applications, sponsorship proposals, and reports.

Assist in drafting and submitting grant applications and reports, managing and updating donor records, ensuring accurate and confidential data handling.

Send thank-you messages, impact reports, and updates on how donations support amputee families.

Help promote events and campaigns via social media, email newsletters, and local outreach.

Track application deadlines and funding commitments to ensure timely submissions.

Process donations and maintain accurate financial records for fundraising activities.

Generate reports on fundraising performance, helping to evaluate campaign success.

Provide general administrative support to the fundraising team, including meeting coordination and document preparation.

Help create engaging fundraising content for social media, newsletters, and the Steel Bones website.

Assist in designing posters, flyers, and digital materials for fundraising campaigns.

Monitor fundraising trends in the amputee support sector to improve strategies.

Ensure all fundraising activities align with Steel Bones’ values and ethical guidelines.

Follow GDPR and data protection policies when handling donor information.

Assist in preparing reports for management, trustees, and funders.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with donors, supporters, and partners.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with funders, corporate sponsors, and community groups.
  • Confidence in making calls and sending emails to potential donors and grant providers.
  • Excellent attention to detail for maintaining accurate donor and financial records.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong administrative skills for processing donations, coordinating meetings, and supporting event planning.
  • Basic understanding of fundraising principles and ethical fundraising practices.
  • Knowledge of donation processing, Gift Aid, and financial record-keeping.
  • Ability to research grant opportunities and assist in writing funding applications.
  • Experience in assisting with event planning, including logistics, marketing, and volunteer coordination.
  • Problem-solving skills to handle unexpected challenges during events.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to ensure successful fundraising activities.
  • Ability to create engaging social media posts and online fundraising content.
  • Basic design skills (e.g., Canva) for creating posters, flyers, and event materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and fundraising databases (e.g., CRM systems).
  • Awareness of GDPR and data protection when handling donor information.
  • Ability to generate reports on fundraising performance and campaign success.
  • Enthusiasm for the mission of Steel Bones and supporting the amputee community.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
