HUBS AND EVENTS COORDINATOR ROLE
HOURS: 20 HOURS
SALARY: £29,120 PRO RATA £14560 FOR 20 HOURS
LOCATION: WORK FROM HOME BUT TRAVEL REQUIRED ACROSS ENGLAND AND WALES
Main purpose of the job
This role is critical in helping us to realise our vision of creating a vibrant, welcoming, supportive, and engaging environment for everyone who attends our activities and events across England and Wales. You will work with the Volunteer Coordinator to actively staff the hubs, events and activities, welcoming participants, processing drop-ins and directing people to other services which can help them. Following appropriate consultation, you will also help us to improve and expand our hub provision.
You will support a team of committed volunteers and sessional staff ensuring that the ethos and values of the charity (dignity, inclusion, collaboration and empowerment) are always maintained. The successful candidate will be someone who is happy driving and/or using public transport to attend meet ups and events across the country but will need to have independent, proactive attitude to get stuck in with ensuring our local amputees are empowered and build their confidence, self esteem and skills, getting to grips with our processes to shine in their local areas.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To oversee the successful planning and delivery of our events and activities programme, liaising with other project staff and ensuring our offer complements our strategy and existing service offerings.
- To help promote our vision of the meet ups and events programme linking with partnership organisations to deliver a wide range of relevant services.
- To work with volunteers and the Volunteer Co Ordinator to ensure communications go to beneficiaries in a timely and efficient manner through text messaging, phone calls, post, emails, social media and in the Enewsletters.
- To work with colleagues and partners to develop and expand the meet ups as appropriate.
- Create posters, leaflets, reports, and presentations as required.
- Updating social media regularly with events and activities information as well as sharing live updates from events
- To co-ordinate and manage the day to day needs for meetups, events and activities.
- To help shape a relevant, impactful, and high-quality programme of activities to engage as many amputee families as possible and help empower volunteers to lead these.
- To create a welcoming and inviting space where all are welcome and they feel safe and supported to contribute and engage positively.
- To develop and refer into service offerings that help amputee families. Ensuring all follow ups to events for attendees are completed timely.
- Build and help manage press and radio communications for events and activities locally and Nationally
- Representing us at community and NHS events to raise awareness but also being able to speak publicly about the work of the charity
- To support organisational fundraising efforts by inputting into the development of new funding opportunities and co-ordinating budgets.
- To ensure database records and monitoring requirements are kept up to date
- To undertake any task that may be requested from time to time that may be consistent with the nature and scope of this post
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Enthusiastic about the aims and objectives of the charity.
- Experience leading day-to-day running of the events, activities and engagement programme.
- Be ambitious, enthusiastic and committed to leading a thriving and successful programme that engages as many amputee families as possible.
- Be able to carry out professional and effective monitoring and evaluation.
- Be excellent at interacting with our beneficiaries, helping them to feel heard and supported.
- A capable leader with the ability to manage and motivate others.
- Good communicator, both written and oral, with a wide range of individuals and groups
- Be willing to put fresh ideas into action.
- Ability to receive constructive criticism and excellent listening skills
- Able to promote the hubs and develop effective relationships with other service providers .
- An awareness and understanding of the issues affecting amputees and their families.
- Be able to demonstrate flexibility and commitment to taking a full and active part in the development of the charity
- Comfortable driving long distances
- IT literate – comfortable using IT including outlook (email and calendars), excel and word, and electronic record keeping and appointment systems.
The ideal Hubs and Events Coordinator will have at least 2 years’ experience within a similar role and have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels. You will also be approachable, proactive, and work well within a team. You will be confident with IT and experience using Microsoft Office 365. It would be beneficial if you understand the impact amputation has on individuals and their families.
This is a 6 MONTH PILOT ROLE and currently 20 hours per week. At the end of March it will be reviewed pending funding and how it works in the orgnisation. Days and times are to be arranged. On offer is a salary of £29,120 per annum pro rata. This is a work from home role with travel expenses paid for meetings that you may need to attend in across the country.
