One of our very exciting projects this year is to launch the STEEL BONES children’s books for amputee families.
Through a series of children’s books, we want to tell very normal every day stories, with one major difference – they all feature amputee characters, specially designed by the students at Soham Village College.
We had dozens of entries into our DESIGN A CHARACTER competition and some of the chosen designs can be seen below – many even contributed with a fantastic storyline.

Funding has now been received from Lovewell Blake Foundation, for which we are very grateful as it means we can now print and distribute the first edition pamphlet of our Children’s book.
We are extremely excited to get these books printed and sent out to amputee families, and with World Book Day coming up we’d like to invite members of our community to share their own stories, and have a chance to have a positive impact on a child’s life, through these amazing tales.
WATCH THIS SPACE and if you have any story ideas or would like to have a go at designing a character for our next edition, please send them to hello@steelbone.co.uk, we would love to hear you.
This project is only possible with the generous support from Lovewell Blake Fund.
