Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts
This is a landmark festival taking inspiration from the 1976 World of Islam Festival, the largest celebration of Islamic arts ever staged in the UK.
Taking place from 19-29 November 2026, The Cambridge Festival of Islamic Arts will bring together over sixty events, including exhibitions placing traditional Islamic arts in dialogue with other traditions and communities, performances such as a Sema ceremony by leading Turkish musician and spoken-word poetry from Rakaya Fetuga, talks by renowned scholars including Skaykh Ahmed Babikir, Peter Sanders, and Dr Timothy Winter, and hands-on workshops in miniature painting, calligraphy, and illumination.
The festival aims to harness the transformative power of Islamic art to build community cohesion and interfaith dialogue, strengthen the cultural citizenship of British Muslims through heritage skills training and educational resources. The festival is open to all.
