Organised by drain care and repair specialists Metro Rod Cambridge – in partnership with The Ely Standard, Ely Hero Awards was born in 2017 with one sole purpose; to shine a light on the unsung heroes in our wonderful community who are the most compassionate, determined, honourable, kind, supportive and brave.

Steel Bones UK was delighted to be invited to the 2018 launch event at Poets House in Ely, where more than 60 people attended with businesses, sponsors, civic dignitaries and special guest, Chris Parkhouse DL, was also present.

There are 10 categories in which individuals can nominate their special ‘hero’ who lives or works in Ely and the surrounding villages, within a 10-mile radius.

We are thrilled to announce that the nominated charity for the event this year will be Steel Bones UK!

Emma Joy-Staines, founder, said “We had no idea that we had been nominated, and natrually we are absolutely delighted to be part of the awards. It is a wonderful idea and truly fantastic to be nominated as the charity.”

Other award categories include: Smiliest Server, Colleague of the Year, Caring Companion, Most Amazing Professional, Neighbour of the Year, Community Champion, Best Teacher, Child of Achievement, Sporting Hero and The Ely Hero.

The judging panel will shortlist three nominations that will be invited to a glitzy award ceremony at The Maltings on June 25.
